NCP outlines  Requirements for Next Generation Network Access Technology

NCP engineering GmbH has developed a blueprint for Next Generation Network Access Technology.  The roadmap details the essential components organizations need to secure their networks, faster productivity across a distributed network and streamline central management policy, while meeting compliance mandates.

1. Independence from operating system and VPN gateway
NCP Secure Clients are available for all standard operating system such as Windows 7, Windows Vista 32/64 Bit, Windows XP 32/64 Bit, Windows Mobile, Linux and Symbian. Teleworker can access the central data network via VPN Gateways from all well-known providers such as Cisco, Checkpoint, WatchGuard, Sonicwall, Juniper, Lancom etc.

2. Intuitive graphical user interface

3. Integrated dialer
NCP Client Software has all the dialers which are necessary for the establishment of a Virtual Private Network via public transmission media such as GPRS, GSM, UMTS, analogue network (modem), ISDN, WLAN/Hotspot, LAN. All dialing parameter can be created, locked and rolled-out centrally per user.

4. Integrated dynamic personal firewall
The personal firewall which is exclusively optimised towards remote access requirements offers "all-round protection for the teleworking station" against attacks from the internet – also during WLAN access at a hotspot.
As a fixed component of the NCP Secure Client Suite, it automatically adapts to the relevant communications environment and protects the terminal against attacks even during times without a VPN connection.
As an option, the personal firewall can be managed centrally.

5. Central management
A Virtual Private Network not only has to be "easy-to-use" for the user but also for the administrator, i.e. it has to be manageable and clear at all times. The NCP Secure Enterprise Management serves as a single point of administration via one console ensuring the efficient use of a professional VPN operation. Integrated functions and automatisms for mass-rollouts, software and configuration-updates, certificate administration, change management and network access control ensure transparency and low operating costs.

6. Network Access Control (NAC)
The adherence to centrally issued security policies has to be constantly monitored in the VPN. All security relevant parameters are checked by the VPN management prior to each access onto the company network. In the event of a deviation the user will be redirected into the quarantine area or his/her user rights will be limited.

7. Parameter lock
The configuration parameters of the VPN Client Suite can be created centrally in such a way that the user can neither avoid them nor manipulate them. The unchangeable parameters are displayed specifically on the user interface.

8. Automatic data transmission from existing systems
The greatest challenge when creating and operating a Virtual Private Network are the application, distribution and management of user and system configurations. All relevant user data has to be collated from different data sources and then has to be sorted and processed.
NCP Secure Enterprise Management supports all required protocols and interfaces for an auto-mated process for the data import from existing systems such as AD-, LDAP, RADIUS and CA-Server.
